When I first started this blog the main focus was photography. I have been a photographer for many years, and until a couple of years ago I was doing it in a professional manner, taking photos of newborns, maternity and family. But I lost my passion, then thought perhapsĀ I could find it in horses. And I didn’t… at least not right away. Over the last 8 months or so I have had taken some pictures I really love, however, I think I have found that thing that interests me right now… the eye of the horse.
I took the above picture in the early spring, and it is still one of my favorite pictures I have taken. It is also one of the photos that made me love my camera again. I have since tried to take similar photos. Sometimes I have been lucky. Sometimes I have not.
It is kind of tricky. For one, the horse needs to stay still. Most of the time they want to sniff (or chew on) my camera. A lot of the horses also don’t particularly appreciate a large camera in their face. However, I do luck out.
One of the tricky things is that their eyes reflect so much, so most of the time I end up finding myself reflected in their eyes if I don’t pay attention to where I am standing and where they are looking.
Distracting isn’t it?
However, I think I might make a bit of a project of this. There is something about the eye of the horse that just captures me. I think they communicate so much through the eyes, and frankly, they are just a beautiful part of the horse. I am not sure how much I will share here, but I will probably share a lot more pictures on my Instagram account.
But perhaps I should share more photography here. What do you think? Leave me a comment and let me know.
